To date, Wings of Liberty alone has sold more than six million copies. Two expansion packs titled Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void were released in 20 respectively that added more depth and story to the Zerg and Protoss sides.
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is the second full-fledged title in the StarCraft series. The original StarCraft, released in 1998 by Blizzard Entertainment, is among the first and most influential PC esports titles of all time. In fact, leading up to the release of StarCraft II, Korean Air featured the face of series’ mascot Jim Raynor on several of its planes. Though the StarCraft series is popular all around the world, its home is arguably South Korea, where it enjoyed status not unlike that of a national pastime.
